Tata Nexon Leads the Pack Again

Once again, the Tata Nexon secured the top position among SUVs sold in India. The popular compact SUV recorded 19,430 units in February 2026, showing impressive growth compared to 15,349 units sold in February 2025.

That translates to a 27 percent year-on-year increase, proving that the Nexon continues to strike the right balance between safety, design, and value. Its wide powertrain options—including petrol, diesel, and electric variants—have helped it appeal to a broad audience.

Tata Punch Continues Its Strong Run

Following closely behind was the Tata Punch, which has carved out a strong position in the micro-SUV category. In February 2026, the Punch posted 18,748 units, up from 14,559 units during the same month last year.

With a 29 percent growth rate, the Punch continues to attract buyers who want SUV styling and ground clearance in a smaller, more affordable package.

Hyundai Creta Dominates the Midsize Segment

The Hyundai Creta remains a key player in the midsize SUV segment. February sales reached 17,938 units, compared to 16,317 units in February 2025, reflecting a 10 percent increase.

Even after years in the market, the Creta’s popularity remains strong thanks to regular updates, a comfortable cabin, and a wide range of features that appeal to both families and young professionals.

Maruti Suzuki Brezza Holds Its Ground

Another consistent performer was the Maruti Suzuki Brezza, which sold 17,863 units in February 2026. That figure represents a 16 percent growth from 15,392 units sold during the same period last year.

The Brezza continues to benefit from Maruti Suzuki’s extensive dealership network and its reputation for reliability and fuel efficiency.

Mahindra Scorpio Range Maintains Momentum

The Mahindra Scorpio lineup, which includes both the Scorpio Classic and Scorpio N, remained a strong contender in February.

Combined sales reached 14,665 units, compared to 13,618 units last year, marking a 7 percent year-on-year growth. Its rugged design and strong road presence continue to attract buyers looking for a more traditional SUV experience.

Fronx Sees a Significant Decline

Not every model had a strong month. The Maruti Suzuki Fronx experienced a noticeable drop in sales.

The model recorded 13,898 units in February 2026, significantly lower than the 21,461 units sold in February 2025, representing a 35 percent decline. While the Fronx remains popular, shifting buyer preferences and stronger competition may have affected its performance.

Victoris Makes an Impressive Debut

One of the biggest talking points of the month was the debut of the Maruti Suzuki Victoris. The newly introduced SUV entered the market with 13,021 units sold in its first full month.

This strong start suggests that the Victoris could quickly climb the sales rankings as awareness grows and deliveries expand across the country.

Mahindra Thar Keeps Enthusiasts Interested

The Mahindra Thar continues to enjoy steady demand among off-road enthusiasts and adventure seekers.

February 2026 saw 11,047 units sold, up from 9,248 units in February 2025, reflecting a 19 percent growth. Its unique character and lifestyle appeal help it stand apart from more family-oriented SUVs.

Hyundai Venue and Kia Seltos Round Out the List

Two more well-known models completed the top ten rankings.

The Hyundai Venue recorded 10,494 units, showing a modest increase from 10,125 units last year.

Meanwhile, the Kia Seltos delivered one of the most impressive performances of the month. Sales jumped to 10,308 units, compared with 6,446 units in February 2025—an impressive 60 percent year-on-year growth, likely boosted by recent updates and refreshed styling.

The Bigger Picture: SUVs Continue to Rule

February 2026 once again confirmed a clear trend in India’s automotive market: SUVs are firmly in the driver’s seat. Buyers across different budgets and lifestyles continue to gravitate toward vehicles that offer higher ground clearance, spacious interiors, and a commanding driving position.

With new models entering the market and established players constantly updating their offerings, competition in the SUV space is only expected to intensify.

For now, though, familiar names like the Nexon, Punch, and Creta remain the ones to beat.
